THEME-BASED PROJECT

Classes 6, 7 and 8 together were involved in a Theme-based Project. The theme was "Food".  These children were grouped and named after sweets like Pheda, Laddu, Obbattu, Barfi, Rasgulla and Modhak. Since it was a mixed group, children were encouraged to share, coordinate and cooperate with each other.

The Project was designed for a month and each week the topic chosen was based on Food. Agriculture, Marketing, Nutrition and Cooking. Children were learning all subjects with reference to food. Our beloved Swamiji inaugurated the Theme Based Project

VISITS DURING THE PROJECT MONTH

As part of the project, children in groups visited an Organic Farm called Kaithota, and learnt first hand information on organic farming. The visit reinforced the importance of sustainability in agriculture and inspired students to consider the broader implications of their food choices, encouraging them to think about how their decisions impact the environment, local economies, and global food systems.

VISIT TO KMF (Karnataka Milk Federation)

Children visited KMF, Diary Circle, Bangalore, to learn about pasteurization. Students were guided through the KMF BAMUL facility, observing the entire milk processing journey. This included the collection, pasteurisation, and packaging of milk. The visit provided students with insights into the range of products produced by KMF BAMUL under the brand name Nandani. They learned about various dairy items such as milk, curd, paneer, and buttermilk.  Students engaged in a Q&A session with the staff, which provided further insights into the industry’s operations and the challenges involved in dairy production.

MARKET VISIT

Children visited Bannerghatta Santhe and Jigani Santhe and interacted with vendors. By interacting with vendors, students learned about the challenges faced by those who work in markets. They gained insights into the economic and social aspects of selling, including pricing, customer relations, and the importance of quality. The visits highlighted the economic significance of markets in local communities. Students saw how markets serve as hubs for commerce, social interaction, and cultural exchange. They learned about the role of markets in supporting local economies and fostering community connections.

INTERACTION WITH A FARMER

Mr. Samanth, an Agriculture Trainer, gave a speech on how to go about growing plants. It was an interactive session and children had a chance to learn a lot. His expertise in organic farming and seed treatment provided practical insights that complemented the theoretical aspects of our theme. The session not only clarified students' doubts but also inspired them to think critically about sustainable agricultural practices and their impact on the environment.
