Teaching with Values: A Transformative Experience
A Two-Day Orientation Course in Values Education was conducted at RIMSE,Mysore(Ramakrishna Institution of Moral and Spiritual Education) on 2nd and 3rd January 2026 for the teachers of Sri Sarada Devi Vidya Kendra, Shivanahalli.
The programme aimed at strengthening moral values and improving teaching effectiveness among teachers.
The sessions began with yoga and prayer, followed by lectures on value-based education, creative teaching, effective teaching, and the role of teachers as Karmayogis. Teachers also visited the RIMSE Museum and Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala and Ashrama, which provided spiritual and experiential learning. Sessions on small daily values and stress management were very useful.
Overall, the orientation programme was meaningful, inspiring, and beneficial for the personal and professional growth of the teachers.
Tribute to Swami Vivekananda on National Youth Day
On 12th January, our school celebrated National Youth Day with great enthusiasm and respect. The programme was organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and to inspire students with his ideals and teachings.
Students from Grade 1 to Grade 9 actively participated in the celebration. The event highlighted the importance of youth in nation-building and emphasized values such as discipline, self-confidence, and service to society.
A special highlight of the programme was a speech delivered by Inchara, a Grade 4 student, who spoke very nicely about the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Her confident and clear speech was appreciated by teachers and students.
The celebration concluded on an inspiring note, encouraging students to follow the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and become responsible citizens of the nation.
Celebration of Swami Vivekananda Jayanthi
Our school celebrated Swami Vivekananda Jayanthi on 13th January, blissfully remembering his religious, spiritual, and philosophical contributions to our world.
The celebration started with homa, which was conducted by Swami Mahararhanandaji, Swami Mahavakyanandaji, and Swami Shivakantanandaji. Revered Swamijis Vishnumayanandaji, Soukhyanandaji, and Mahistanandaji also joined the ritual, making it more graceful and brightening.
Bhajans were sung, spreading a divine atmosphere among students. Students from nursery to 10 standard and all the teachers and staff actively engaged in the occasion.
Insights into Forest Life: Session with Forest Range Officer
As a part of the Theme Month / Project-Based Learning activities, a resource person session was organized for students of Grades 6 to 8. Mr. Shridhar, a Forest Range Officer, interacted with the students and shared his valuable experiences from the field. He spoke about the importance of forests and the crucial role they play in maintaining ecological balance. He also highlighted the significance of wildlife conservation and the need to protect natural habitats. The session was informative and inspiring, helping students gain a deeper understanding of nature and environmental responsibility.
Voices for Change: A Street Play on Social Awareness
On 14 January 2026, students of our school organized a street skit at Sollepura / Vivekanandapura to create awareness about drug addiction, the importance of education, and child labor. The students performed confidently and conveyed strong social messages. A large number of villagers gathered and appreciated the performance, assuring their support in eradicating these social issues. At the end, the Principal addressed the gathering, informed them about the commencement of school admissions, and assured full support for children's' education. The programme was successful and impactful in promoting social awareness.

Project-Based Learning Month – Classroom and Field Activities Report

During the Project-Based Learning Month, interdisciplinary teaching was carried out inside the classroom by integrating subjects such as Languages, Science, Social Science, and Mathematics through the central theme of Nature. This approach helped students understand concepts in a holistic and practical manner.
During the theme month our main focus was on achieving the following learning outcomes:
A. Understanding nature through observation.
B. Inculcating the values of belongingness and conservation.
1. Nature Walk at Brahmananda Vana
As part of the theme, students visited Brahmananda Vana for a nature walk. During this visit, they observed and studied various elements of nature such as birds, animals, forest types, evergreen plants, dry deciduous plants, medicinal plants, and insects. This activity helped students develop curiosity and awareness about the natural environment.
2. Weekly Presentations
Weekly presentations were conducted during the project month. Students presented what they had learned each week, which helped in reinforcing their understanding, improving confidence, and developing communication and presentation skills.
3. Field Visit and Experiments
Students also went on a field visit where they were divided into seven groups and sent to different locations. They measured the temperature of various places and compared it with the school campus temperature. Students also conducted soil testing of soil collected from different places, including Brahmananda Vana soil. This activity provided practical exposure to scientific investigation.
4. Resource Persons
A Bamboo Workshop was conducted by two resource persons from Sollepuradoddi, where students learned about bamboo usage and craftsmanship.
Dhanaraj Sir and Ashwath Sir guided students during a nature walk and explained about medicinal plants, deciduous plants, birds, and animals.
Forest Range Officer Shri Shreedhar Sir visited the school and shared his experiences and valuable information about wildlife and forest conservation, which inspired students greatly.
5. Exhibition
A formal function was organized before the exhibition at the Primary Block Assembly Area, in the presence of Swami Vishnumayanandaji, Swami Shivakanthanandaji, and Swami Mahavakyanandaji, along with other guests and Management Committee members. The exhibition was held on 17th January 2026, the last day of the Project-Based Learning Month. Students showcased their learning through models and displays. Classes III to V conducted their exhibition at the Boys’ Block bus parking area, while Classes VI to VIII exhibited their projects at the Girls’ Block assembly area.
Spirit of Sports and Teamwork – Annual Sports Meet 2026
Our school celebrated the Annual Sports Meet on 22nd and 23rd January 2026 with great enthusiasm and energy. The inaugural programme was held on 22nd January 2026.
The Sports Meet was formally declared open by the blowing of the conch shell, creating a traditional and auspicious beginning. Swami Vishnumayanandaji and Swami Shivakanthanandaji graced the occasion with their presence and blessings. Administrator Murali Sir, Principal Ranu Ma’am, and Principal Geetha Ma’am were also present and encouraged the students.
The programme began with an impressive march past by the Scout and Guide students, followed by the lighting of the Sports Torch, symbolizing the spirit of sportsmanship and unity.
Various group games such as Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Basketball, and Football were conducted. Along with these, many individual events including 100 metres, 200 metres, Tug of War, Cone Balancing, Slow Cycling, and Cross Country were organized.
Students participated actively in all the events and displayed great enthusiasm, courage, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the meet. The Sports Meet was a grand success and provided a wonderful platform for students to showcase their physical skills and team spirit.
Celebrating Democracy: 77th Republic Day
Our school celebrated the 77th Republic Day with great pride and patriotism. The programme was graced by the presence of Swami Vishnumayanandaji, Swami Shivakanthanadaji, and Swami Mahavakyanandaji.
The celebration began with the flag hoisting, which was performed by Swami Shivakanthanadaji. After hoisting the national flag, he addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of Republic Day, highlighting the values of the Constitution, unity, and responsibility of citizens.
The programme inspired students and staff to respect the nation’s democratic values and strengthened the spirit of patriotism among everyone present.
