Teachers' Retreat at RIMSE 2026-27
As part of the academic year 2026–27, our teachers participated in a rejuvenating Teachers' Retreat at the Ramakrishna Institute of Moral and Spiritual Education (RIMSE), Mysuru. The retreat provided a unique opportunity for educators to step away from their daily routines and engage in self-reflection, value-based learning, and personal growth.
The sessions, conducted by the revered monks and resource persons of RIMSE, focused on the importance of character building, ethical leadership, stress management, mindfulness, and the role of teachers in shaping future generations. Through inspiring talks, meditation, yoga, interactive discussions, and group activities, the retreat encouraged participants to strengthen their inner values and develop a balanced approach to teaching and life.
WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
World Environment Day, observed annually on June 5, plays a vital role in raising awareness about the need to protect our environment and the responsibility each individual holds. It reminds us that our lives depend on healthy ecosystems and encourages the changes necessary to ensure a sustainable future.
This year’s theme focused on climate change. In our school, students participated in various activities throughout the week to spread awareness about how human actions impact the environment. Quizzes and other engaging activities were conducted during the morning assembly.
One of the most significant events was the “Knowledge Kaleidoscope,” where students were assigned environmental topics and spoke about them during the assembly. Each presentation was followed by three questions, which helped improve knowledge, curiosity, and confidence among students.
Additionally, a display board decoration competition was organized, and students showcased impressive creativity and effort. Students were also encouraged to adopt environmentally responsible habits, such as switching off lights and fans when not in use and reducing plastic waste.
Overall, the week concluded with everyone taking an oath to protect the environment through their actions
DISPLAY BOARD COMPETITION
On the occasion of Environment Day, a display board competition was organized for students from Classes 6 to 10. The theme for the competition was Climate Action – "Now for Climate", which aimed to create awareness about climate change and the importance of protecting our environment.
Each class was required to decorate and present a display board based on the given theme. The boards had to be made using only eco-friendly materials, and the use of plastic was strictly prohibited. Students participated enthusiastically and displayed their creativity by preparing informative and attractive boards.
The display boards were judged according to specific criteria, and the total marks allotted for each board were 50. The judges evaluated the boards based on creativity, presentation, relevance to the theme, and use of eco-friendly materials.
This activity was also a part of the school's first CCA activity. Among all the participating classes, Class 10 'A' secured the first place by scoring 44 out of 50 marks.
The activity helped students understand the importance of climate conservation and encouraged them to adopt environmentally friendly practices in their daily lives.
Daily News, Lifelong Learning: DH Student Edition Initiative
To foster the habit of reading and enhance students' awareness of current affairs, our school distributed the DH Student Edition (NESW) newspaper to students throughout the academic year. This initiative aimed to encourage young learners to stay informed about local, national, and global events while developing critical thinking and language skills.
The newspaper served as a valuable educational resource, providing age-appropriate news, informative articles, quizzes, and features that complemented classroom learning. Students eagerly engaged with the daily editions, enriching their vocabulary, improving reading comprehension, and gaining a broader perspective on the world around them.
International Yoga Day Celebration
Our school celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and active participation from students across all classes. The event highlighted the importance of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and a balanced lifestyle.
The celebration began with a brief introduction to the significance of International Yoga Day, followed by a guided yoga session where students performed various asanas, pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation techniques under the guidance of trained instructors and teachers. The students demonstrated remarkable discipline and enthusiasm while practising the yoga postures.
The session emphasized the benefits of regular yoga practice, including improved concentration, flexibility, strength, and stress management. It also inspired students to adopt healthy habits and incorporate yoga into their daily lives for overall well-being.
